Abvent releases Artlantis 5.1.2.2

Image rendered by Tomasz Luszczuk in Artlantis 5
This important update solves compatibility issues and brings new enhancements to Artlantis 5. From now on, billboards can be edited and saved similar to shaders and objects. This much anticipated feature allows users to customize each Media type in their Artlantis catalog. The enhancements are the following:

Abvent releases iVisit 3D for ArchiCAD

Based on the success of its earlier launch of iVisit 3D for Artlantis Studio, Abvent has announced the release of iVisit 3D for ArchiCAD Public Beta. Available in English and French, this extension installed in ArchiCAD allows users to insert panoramic cameras into ArchiCAD projects, link them together, and generate iVisit 3D panoramas viewable on a website and on mobile devices. The players that can read these interactive panoramas are available in Flash, Android and iOS, and are free to download and royalty free

Create panoramas and nodes
iVisit 3D for ArchiCAD is a simple palette added to ArchiCAD, accessible from the ArchiCAD menu: Design > Design Extras > iVisit 3D> Show Palette. These tools allow users to create, delete and link the nodes, graphically, in the ArchiCAD project and, finally, to generate an iVisit 3D Panorama. Each node is a panoramic camera, which calculates the six necessary images for a cubic panorama giving a 360° view. The different nodes are then linked together for smooth navigation inside the project.

iVisit 3D panorama calculation
As when using ArchiCAD's rendering tool, setup the rendering engine that will be used with iVisit 3D. When it's done, launch the panorama calculation with one click. ArchiCAD calculates all the images necessary for the selected panorama and calculates a plan view of the project at the same time that will be used to navigate in the project.

On a website or on mobile devices
The result is an HTML folder, which includes a webpage, the Flash player and a folder including all the images. Upload the contents to the server to view it online. To view the panorama on a mobile device, use the free iVisit 3D Builder to create a PNO file, the file format used by both Android and iOS players. Transfer the PNO file to your mobile device using iTunes, Dropbox or Box.com accounts. The iVisit 3D player is available in a free download from the Apple and Google websites.

About iVisit 3D
iVisit 3D is an innovative and easy way to present panoramas of your projects online or on an iPad/iPhone or Android device. iVisit 3D uses only still images and not a real 3D model or animation, making the calculations and navigation very fast. Developed especially for architects and designers, iVisit 3D allows users to view and share a project by navigating between viewpoints on the floor plan, in a palette of thumbnail preview images, or directly within the 3D views.

Abvent launches iVisit 3D for Autodesk 360 Rendering

Based on the success of its earlier launch of iVisit 3D for Artlantis Studio, Abvent has announced the public beta release of iVisit 3D for Autodesk 360 Rendering. iVisit 3D converts Revit panoramas rendered with Autodesk 360 Rendering into full, 3D presentations. iVisit 3D's real-time preview completes the panoramas with building level plans and easily produces interactive, multi-node panoramas for viewing on websites and iOS or Android mobile devices.

Create panoramas and nodes
Users connect to their Autodesk 360 account and launch the rendering calculation in the cloud. The different camera viewpoints are calculated as Panorama images. Users create large, vertical images with six different views of a project. Panorama calculations are launched on Autodesk 360 Rendering; when it's done, they are simply downloaded to a computer from Autodesk 360 Rendering Gallery. iVisit 3D works on both Mac and PC. Users simply import their panoramas and, if necessary, the plan views of the project. The panoramas are linked together and positioned on the plan views. The links created in this step will facilitate the navigation between nodes in the final iVisit 3D panorama.

On a website or on mobile devices
Once the panoramas are linked together and the navigation has been tested, users simply calculate the final iVisit 3D Panoramas in both HTML and PNO formats. HTML allows users to upload their panorama to a website, while the PNO format allows users to view their panorama on an iOS or Androïd mobile device. The PNO file can be transferred to a tablet or smartphone through a variety of ways using Dropbox, box.com and iTunes.

Artlantis 5 - My First Thoughts

Artlantis power user Evan Troxel has taken the time to give Artlantis 5 a spin; he's put his thoughts into words, and shared his first impressions with us.  Here's a sneak peek at what Evan found most impressive:
  • "The interface is really nice. It makes total sense especially as more and more people are using laptops where screen real estate is of utmost importance. It allows you to put things away that you're not using but you still have easy access to. I also love how easy it is to populate the scene with additional items like trees, furniture and people with the Catalog feature. It's not a new feature but it's laid out in a much better way now with categories. Being able to find what you're looking for is really nice."
  • "Batch rendering is also a breeze with this app. Just cue up a bunch of views and tell it to render later. Then when you're ready, launch the Artlantis Batch app and you can run it overnight, cranking out image after image until they're all done. This is a huge feature not to be underestimated. For most of us in small offices or doing solo work who only have a single computer, this can make it so work is getting done while you sleep."

Abvent Launches Artlantis 5!

PARIS, September 3, 2013 -- Abvent has announced the launch of Artlantis 5, the latest version of the fastest, stand-alone 3D rendering application developed especially for architects and designers. Artlantis 5 combines the most advanced and efficient tools for fast and easy photo-realistic rendering of 3D projects.  New features include an entirely redesigned interface; a new Artlantis Media catalog and InApp store; and a free iVisit 3D option for panoramas and VR objects.  These and other new features announced with the launch of Artlantis 5 make it one of the fastest, most advanced rendering applications available for architects and designers on the market today.

New features in Artlantis 5

New Interface

The Artlantis 5 interface has been completely redesigned to take advantage of the benefits today's wider screens offer. Artlantis 5 optimizes the project’s display, and offers an even larger preview size. Artlantis 5 makes it easier and more comfortable than ever to work on projects: standardized on Mac and Windows, Artlantis 5‘s interface is based on a single, clear window, adjustable and easy-to-use. With its inspectors grouped at the top of the screen, the working window is more readable - displaying the lists on the left and catalog at the bottom of the screen. As a result, the number of clicks needed to access the desired feature has been reduced considerably.  To meet everyone's own needs and work habits, Artlantis 5 offers a new option to filter the list to optimize the content.

New Media Catalog | InApp Store

Using the new media catalog is fast and efficient. Its organization into categories and subcategories makes choosing media very fast and easy. For better use of workspace, the catalog window can be moved independently onto a second screen if desired.

Artlantis 5 also includes new shaders. Some are optimized with additional parameters like relief mapping to better simulate the depths of surfaces.  In addition, non-repetitive tiling shaders and multi-texture natural shaders simulate natural surfaces like ground, grass, and water.

The Artlantis 5 revolution would not be complete without the InApp Media Store offering more than 5,000 objects and shaders of all kinds for purchase.  Users can enrich their Artlantis Media catalog at any time by logging in and downloading new Media that are automatically placed in the correct categories and subcategories.  Artlantis 5 includes a Media converter application so that users can convert their own library or previously purchased Artlantis Media CDs into their new Artlantis 5 catalog.

Free iVisit 3D Option for Panoramas and VR Objects
(Artlantis Studio only)

Create a realistic virtual tour inside your project with multi-node panoramas using  iVisit 3D. Artlantis 5 automatically creates everything needed to view the panoramas. Based on Flash™ technology, the player is free of charge and viewable within most popular web browsers. An iVisit 3D Builder App also allows users to convert and share these panoramas on an  iPadiPhone or  Android device. iVisit 3D is now available in a FREE download from Apple’s App Store or Google Play.  In addition, iVisit 3D VR Object allows you to manipulate and move a scene in 360°.  An automatic feature, simply select the number of images to calculate horizontally and vertically to ensure a smooth animation.

Artlantis 5 sneak peek: New user interface

'N' stands for New, as in New user interface, brought to you by Artlantis 5!

The Artlantis 5 Revolution is almost here, and we saved the best for last.  The new user interface  can now be viewed in one window and in full screen on both Mac and PC platforms.  Keep an eye on your project and your tools at your fingertips!

Real-time radiosity preview

Artlantis’s productivity is based on a founding concept: real-time preview. Regardless of the change in the scene settings (materials, lighting, environment), the preview is updated instantly.  You control your work, you confirm your changes, and you run the calculation in high definition for your final image without wasting time.

Viewpoints

The freedom offered by Artlantis 5 comes from the multitude of viewpoints that you can create, save, and organize. Each viewpoint allows you to create a real study of your scene: date, a light source change, a camera lens change, adding a background -- edit and save the combinations of parameters in your list of viewpoints that are important to you.

In order to optimize the display of your project while keeping an eye on your list views, they appear on the left-hand side of the screen in a fixed position with a refocusing of the preview on the left, or on the fly so that the preview is not moved!

Inspectors

Now grouped at the top of the screen, inspectors allow you to set all the parameters associated with shaders, objects, lights, heliodons and perspectives (perspectives, projected views, panoramas, VR objects and animations). The real backbone of Artlantis 5 is this clear and intuitive tool bar, allowing you to access -- with a minimum of clicks -- a maximum of Artlantis features and settings. You can make adjustments, improvements, and fine-tune your scene and see the results instantly -- without taking your eyes off the preview window.

Artlantis 5 sneak peek: Preview controllers

We are so close to the launch of Artlantis 5!  Based on what we've seen thus far, it's hard to believe it can get any better.  But look at what's behind the letter 'O' in R E V O L U T I O N ... OH my goodness:

Handling shaders or simple textures in the preview or in the 2D window is easy.  A preview controller allows you to move, resize, and rotate shaders and textures. A simple keyboard shortcut is all it takes to snap a shader or texture to the geometry automatically.

Just like shaders and textures, objects are handled with the same ease in the preview or in the 2D view. Rotate, move, resize or duplicate … everything is optimized! The objects can also be snapped onto edges.
