Ancient city comes to life in 3D using ArchiCAD, Artlantis, and iVisit 3D

BERGAMA, TURKEY, July 18, 2013 – Bilkom has launched a project called “History comes to life in 3D” using 3D modeling software and mobile technology from GRAPHISOFT and Abvent.  As a result, the ancient city in Bergama can be explored in 3D, making it possible for visitors to experience a virtual tour of the historic area for the first time.

iVisit Anatolia, a 3D viewing application for tablets and smart phones developed for Artlantis by Abvent, enables users who visit Zeus Altar, the Temple of Athena, the Red Basilica, and Asclepion, the four ancient sites in Bergama, to explore these historic sites in a 360 virtual tour as they looked originally.  Universities, architecture students, municipalities, and Bilkom worked together to launch the project in a mere 2 months.

Under the leadership of architect Ender Aydın, Bilkom’s Digital Life Coach, 12 architecture students from the universities of Dokuz Eylül, Gedik and Yaşar and a research fellow met twice in Bergama with the coordination of Bergama Municipality Development and Planning Department UNESCO World Heritage and Area Management during weekend workshops. The 2D drawings of the ancient sites were exported to ArchiCAD and rendered in Artlantis, while the unique panoramas were created using iVisit 3D, Artlantis’s 3D presentation tool.

Stating that they were proud to develop iVisit Anatolia, a software opening the doors of the ancient wonders of Anatolia to both foreign and local tourists, Abvent professionals thanked Bilkom for the “great idea” that built upon a similar cultural contribution they developed for Versailles Palace in 2012.

Moreover, GRAPHISOFT, the leading Building Information Modeling (BIM) software developer for architects, stated its contentment to learn that the 3D modeling of the historic sites in Bergama came to life via its award-winning ArchiCAD software.  The next stage of the project, which started with Bergama will be shaped according to the demands from municipalities and universities.

BIMcomponents.com Channels BIM Objects from BIMobject®

GRAPHISOFT, the developer of ArchiCAD, the Number One choice of architects for BIM solutions, will now channel BIM objects from the BIMobject® cloud and integrate them into the organic search results on BIMcomponents.com.

BIMcomponents.com, GRAPHISOFT’s portal for parametric BIM objects, will automatically channel objects developed, maintained, and published by real manufacturers in the central cloud solution at BIMobject.com.

The brand recognition of BIMobject® is well known and certifies that the objects come from real manufacturers and are real products that can be specified and sourced in real life. The unique channel concept developed by BIMobject allows building product portals to channel the BIM objects used by more and more websites around the world. For manufacturers, this offers convenience by centralizing the hosting and maintenance of their digital product data; the BIMobject® cloud handles all the building product searches to be updated.

The cooperation between GRAPHISOFT and BIMobject® will increase the visibility of the manufacturers’ BIM objects and simplify the way architects and engineers can search for BIM objects and download them to their favorite BIM system.

These high quality BIM objects are guaranteed to be by the manufacturers and quality controlled by BIM experts from BIMobject®.

”The integration with BIMobject.com, the world's leading manufacturer specific content provider, offers direct access to an extensive collection of high quality BIM content by real manufacturers available both in ArchiCAD 17 and on BIMcomponents.com. BIMobject® chosen as 2013 Red Herring Top 100 Europe winner

AMSTERDAM, April 11, 2013 -- Red Herring announced its Top 100 award winners today, recognizing Europe’s leading private companies and celebrating these startups’ innovations and technologies across their respective industries.

Red Herring’s Top 100 Europe list has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring’s editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.

“Selecting startups that show the most potential for disruption and growth is never easy,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “We looked at hundreds and hundreds of candidates from all across the continent, and after much thought and debate, narrowed the list down to the Top 100 Winners. Each year, the competition gets tougher but we believe BIMobject AB demonstrates the vision, drive and innovation that define a Red Herring winner.”

"On behalf of Red Herring, congratulations on being selected as one of this year's Red Herring Top 100 Europe.  We screened hundreds of companies for the award so your achievement is no small feat," says Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring.

Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated the companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technological innovation, management quality, overall business strategy and market penetration. This assessment was complemented by a review of the track records and standings of similar startups in the same verticals, allowing Red Herring to see past the “buzz” and make the list a valuable instrument of discovery and advocacy for the most promising new business models in Europe.

Language support integrated into the BIMobject portal

Multi-language support will greatly enhance the experience for many users and make it easier to access and use the BIM objects published on the portal. This further supports the BIMobject mission, of being the primary global BIM object content provider for the building industry, by attracting more BIM users across the world.

The version released provides the BIM object catalogue in English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and German. More languages will be added during 2013.

All search, filter and integrated functions are available in the different languages so users can use the portal in their native language or the language required for the project. All the language features are available immediately in the highly popular BIMobject APP for Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.

The integrated support for languages in the BIMobject portal also benefits international component manufacturers with a much reduced maintenance on making available country specific BIM objects. And where manufacturers have their own private clouds to publish BIMobject catalogues, they can also choose the most appropriate language.

Introducing BIMobject Private Cloud technology

With the bimobject.com product portal continuing to serve as the central cloud solution, the possibility to build synchronized replicas of the product cloud are now infinite. With the release of the new technology, BIMobject is moving its affiliate program to the new solution and now calling it Private Clouds.

With the new BIMobject® Private Cloud technology, there will be two solutions immediately available. This will be in the form of web services that can be setup by an administrator and later maintained by the building product manufacturer or, for instance, a construction company.

This means that a building product manufacturer present on the bimobject.com cloud can publish and brand their own product catalog based on the BIMobject® cloud technology with the same functionality of the main bimobject.com cloud.

With BIMobject's new Private Cloud technology, this also means that a web-based on-line product catalog will be very simple to maintain and keep in complete sync with the main bimobject.com cloud. Any changes made on the bimobject.com cloud will also be made on all of the private clouds. All functions -- BIMail, BIManalytics, and BIMobject® apps -- are also compatible with the Private Clouds.

Watch the video below to learn more about BIMobject Private Cloud technology!
